TECHNIQUES, CULTURE AND HISTORY

White Crane Kung Fu was developed and taught in the 17th Century by Fang Qi Niang in Yong Chun, Fujian, China. It has been widely practiced in the area with little modification since then.
In this book Martin Watts gives an overview of the system of White Crane Kung Fu expounding the practices, theory and drills of the style, including a detailed look at San Zhan ( Sanchin's origin ).
He looks at its influence on other styles placed in the context of geography, history and demographic intertia working with original translations of materials until now unpublished in the West.

”This author's work builds a bridge across styles and links the past to the present. Providing a simple way through which to accurately understand the past studies, the technique and philosophy of this style, his work is a wonderful contribution to the current and future generations of this art” (Patrick McCarthy)
